Selena Gomez’s Plunging Black Gown at the BAFTA Awards Was Anything But Basic

Selena Gomez is no stranger to a fun LBD moment, whether she’s reinventing the timeless style with coquette bows or turning up the heat with a underboob cutout and puffed sleeves. Just weeks after modeling a whimsical black fit and flare dress with a large bow and detached sleeves in London, the multi-hyphenate was back with another statement black gown as she stepped out at the British Academy Film Awards. 

While attending the BAFTA film preview and Q&A for Emilia Pérez on October 13, Gomez wore a plunging LBD with a deep sweetheart neckline and short sleeves embellished with large lace cutouts that exposed parts of her chest and her upper arms. The Only Murders in the Building actress’s elegant gown had a form-fitting bodice that slightly flared out into a silk column skirt with countless micro-pleats that ended just above her ankles. A pair of pointy-toed black boots peeped out from underneath her hem.

Gomez leaned into the vampy vibes with a deep burgundy lipstick, which she paired with a subtle black cat eye, bold brows, and lightly flushed cheeks. A sleek, middle-parted low bun and bedazzled gold hoop earrings finished the “Love On” singer’s elegant press event look as she posed with co-stars Zoë Saldana, Karla Sofía Gascón, and Adriana Paz.

While Gomez has been leaning into the all-black memo while in London over the past few days, she turned up the drama for a red carpet appearance on October 11. As she attended the Emilia Pérez Headline Gala during the 68th BFI London Film Festival, the former Disney star was red-hot in a scarlet ball gown accentuated with a scoop neckline and a large coquette-esque bow in front. She leaned into the leading lady aesthetic with a megawatt diamond statement necklace, matching cuff earrings, and a sleek high ponytail with chunky face-framing pieces.
